Sharp



Founded in 1912, Sharp is one of the biggest electronics company in the world. Sharp produces variety of electronics including LDC panels, solar panels, mobile phones, A/V equipments, and microwave ovens. Also, sharp is one of the biggest semiconductor producers. Sharp was the first company to produce LCD calculator in 1973. The LCD technology has been one of the core products for the Sharp Corporation. Sharp took controlling stake in Pioneer in 2007.

Sharp is one of the founding member of the Blu-ray Disc Association. As such, they have pushed for the Blu-ray format along with their partners. Sharp’s Aquos line of Blu-ray player has similar range and features from other manufacturers. The Blu-ray players have special function called Aquos Link that can be integrated with Sharp’s popular Aquos television sets.
