Philips



Phillips is the largest consumer electronics maker by revenue. The sales were over 28 billion Euros in 2008. Phillips has long history of creating consumer electronics dating back to early 1900s. Phillips sells wide variety of consumer electronics including television, LCD monitors, and health care products. They helped create VHS standard when they introduced their own line of video cassette recorder.
Phillips battled Sony’s Betamax and VHS groups and eventually joined VHS group. Phillips was first to introduce laser disk, CD, and DVD format in collaboration with Sony.

Once again, Phillips joined Sony on creating Blu-ray format by becoming a founding member of Blu-ray Disc Association. Like other giant electronics makers, Phillips has wide range of consumer Blu-ray disc players. They range from entry level model all the way up to high end model with high fidelity audio supports.
